A personal reflection on the October 7 anniversary: remembering the victims, honouring their humanity and refusing to normalise the atrocities or their celebration.
I will never be the same either. Mostly because of the sick, sadistic things that were done to those precious Israelis (and their guests), but also because of the sick, sadistic reaction around the world- including American college campuses. What an absolute horror. People died. Decency died. And a sense of safety died for all Jews around the world. My own friend and neighbor’s reaction was “well, there are issues on both sides”. I’ll never forget it. And I’ll never forgive it. Am Yisrael Chai.
History rhymes. Jews cannot afford or allow it: “Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times.”
