(Evening Landscape with Two Men, Caspar David Friedrich, 1835)
My goal is to explore various artists and movements to enrich our understanding and appreciation and to make our lives more beautiful. Movements like Romanticism, Impressionism, Realism, Classicism, and various others are complex and often not given the serious attention they deserve.
Take impressionism, for example. Many people, some of them among my closest friends, dismiss it without a second thought. In my recent essay, "The Impressionist Revolution," I explained some of the key elements of Impressionism and showed many of its unique values. I aim to highlight the virtues of these artists. Despite their flaws, their works still have positive values to be found and appreciated.
Currently, my blog leans more toward art history than aesthetics. I don't claim to be an expert in philosophy or art history. Before any article I publish, I do significant research. You can find older posts that I now disagree with, which are part of my learning curve. Reflecting on past mistakes helps ensure they aren't repeated.
I take this subject seriously and am always seeking the truth. Otherwise, what's the point?
Please consider supporting me if you care about this subject and would like to see more content. This will allow me to devote more time to it, improve its design, and explore other exciting ideas in the future.
The membership starts at $10 per month. One of the perks will be early access to all of my articles. If a monthly contribution is too heavy for you, a one-time “buy me a coffee” contribution is available.
Thank you.
