The Romanticism of Caspar David Friedrich: An Immersive One-Day Seminar on Art, Music, and Poetry

Caspar David Friedrich produced landscapes, but they were not gentle, pastoral, or tranquil—they were filled with intensity and passion. He was a true Romantic! In this in-depth seminar, we will immerse ourselves in a few of his most powerful works and integrate contemporaneous music, poetry, and drama to help us see the richness of his art. We'll step into this early 19th-century world of Beethoven, Goethe, Schubert, and Schiller, and see how Friedrich influenced and was influenced by his Romantic peers.
