Over 100 Caspar David Friedrich Works in One Building!
Today, the most anticipated exhibition of the year opened at the Hamburg Kunsthalle to celebrate the artist’s 250th birthday. The exhibition shows over 60 paintings and 100+ drawings by Caspar David Friedrich; this is the biggest gathering of Friedrich's works in recent history. As a bonus, the exhibition will include many works by other great contemporaries of Friedrich, such as Friedrich Kersting and Johan Christian Dahl.
The Hamburg Kunsthalle, not far from Friedrich’s home town of Greifswald, has always been the central hub for Friedrich’s works. It is home to the most iconic Friedrich painting, “The Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog,” and many other famous works, such as “The Sea of Ice.”
During the past year, I’ve already visited the Wanderer three times, believe it or not: twice in Winterthur, Switzerland, where it was held for a temporary exhibition, and once in Hamburg.
Hamburg is Germany’s most beautiful major city, and the Kunsthalle is one of the best art museums in the world. If you consider yourself an art admirer and, perhaps more specifically, a romantic, this exhibition is a must-visit. This could very much be an opportunity of a lifetime.
The exhibition is planned to be open until April. I plan to visit there after AynRandCon 2024, probably around March 11–13. If you want to meet me there and perhaps do a bit of a tour, please email me about it; I would love to do something of the sort.

See you in Hamburg!
