German Romanticism: A New Art Discourse Episode
As a student of Ayn Rand’s philosophy, I have heard much about Rand’s favourite authors, such as Victor Hugo and Fyodor Dostoyevsky, whom she celebrated as great ‘Romantic’ authors.
But what about contemporary works by great German authors and artists such as Heinrich Heine and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe? Could they possibly be considered among giants such as Hugo and Dostoyevsky?
The following Art Discourse episode aims to answer that very question, along with a great deal of discussion about Romanticism in general and the German examples in particular. The discourse covers examples in literature, poetry, paintings, and theatre.
I was lucky to have this discussion with Dr Deborah Ryszka, a Doctor of Philosophy and a fellow student of Ayn Rand.
Enjoy!
