An Act of Justice
Last night, I went to sleep with the great news about the assassination attempt on the leader of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah. This morning, I woke up with the terrific news that he was officially dead. This is a day worth celebrating.
Nasrallah was a very well-known figure in Israel; I have been familiar with his face for as long as I can remember. For over 32 years, he has led the terrorist organization Hezbollah on its quest to annihilate Israel. That man has dedicated his life to coming up with the strategy, the personnel, the weaponry, the propaganda, and the international backing required to execute his devilish plan.
His death, alongside the death of many other senior Lebanese and Iranian officers, was an act of pure justice. It was a brilliant execution by the Israeli airforce, intelligence, and leadership that authorised this complex operation. Combined with the many strikes that preceded it in the last weeks, Israel has effectively eliminated the entire leadership of Hezbollah.
The brilliant beeper operation has indeed turned out to be phase one in Israel’s plan to eradicate Hezbollah. Israel has done more than what I had initially thought it would do. Hopefully, the killing of Nasrallah is only the beginning.
The so-called Lebanese state supposedly has an army. It supposedly is the ruling force in Lebanon. If it is indeed so, then there’s no better time for the Lebanese army to take control of its own state finally. Take out what’s left of Hezbollah, and finally bring peace to the Lebanese people. Justice would demand the people of Lebanon to act now. If the Lebanese fail to act, Israel must regard them as accomplices to Hezbollah’s crimes. In such a case, a full-fledged war on the anarchic state of Lebanon must be declared by Israel.
Let us hope that from the rubble and ashes left by Nasrallah and his associates, a new chapter in Lebanese history will be made, where both Christian and Muslim Lebanese will co-exist peacefully next to Israel. We must remember that had Nasrallha not decided to join the Palestinians on October 8th, none of this would have happened. We must remember that any suffering experienced by the Lebanese is a result of their fundamental lack of independence and cowardice to stand against Hezbollah.
Also, let us hope that Israel will push on until the complete destruction of the northern threat. If it requires boots on the ground, so be it. In 2006, Israel came close to ultimately defeating Hezbollah, but it compromised at the climax. We’ve seen the result of that compromise now.
The killing of Nasrallah was an essential act of justice, but there’s still much more work to do. If the Lebanese people seek peaceful co-existence with Israel, they must act now and do everything in their power to help Israel. It’s now or never.
